Starting the vehicle with the theft-protection blocked
still require a physical car to be started. In combination with our car sharing
kit that means that the key needs to be in the car at all times. Since that can
cause issues with the car insurers there is an additional theft device
that interrupts the car's ignition, if our software does not tell the car
sharing kit that the engine may be started.
In the case where users make a stop and close the car with the app, the start interruption is activated. If the driver takes the key with him and opens the car only with the key, he will get in, but the car will not start. It only starts, if the vehicle was opened with the app.
Since users often forgot about this behavior, we added a new notification that is triggered during a booking, where the theft protection is active and the user tries to start the car. In order to start the engine, the user must click the open button in the app, which automatically de-activates the theft protection.
